Integrating industry, academia and research, OUHK Laser and the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly established a joint laboratory for "Perovskite Photovoltaic Intelligent Manufacturing."

April 8, 2024

On January 16, Shenzhen OUHK Laser Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "OUHK Laser") and the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology") joint laboratory for perovskite photovoltaic intelligent manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as " Joint Laboratory") was established. Cheng Huiming, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Carbon Neutral Institute of the Shenzhen Academy of Advanced Technology, Bi Yalei, director of the Development Department, Bai Yang, researcher of the Carbon Neutral Institute, Liu Chang, project manager of the Development Department, and Dr. Zhang Fan, founder and general manager of the Open University Laser, and the institute Dean Dr. Liang Guowen, R&D Director Dr. Li Kai, Assistant General Manager Chen Ming and other key leaders attended the joint unveiling of the joint laboratory.

Academician Cheng first extended a warm welcome to the arrival of Dr. Zhang Fan and his delegation. He emphasized that the Carbon Neutral Institute of Shenzhen Advanced Institute was established to meet the national strategic goal of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” and is committed to carbon-neutral technological innovation and leading the development of the carbon-neutral industry. After two years of hard work, we have laid out multiple directions to solve the development bottlenecks in the new energy industry, and cooperated with enterprises in the industry chain for research and development, which can accelerate the transformation of scientific research results. Dr. Zhang Fan said that he was very pleased that OUHK Laser could establish a cooperative relationship with Shenzhen Advanced Institute of Technology through the "Joint Laboratory" to carry out comprehensive and close cooperation in technology development, process optimization, and equipment processing. OUHK Laser is a dynamic and creative high-tech, intelligent manufacturing enterprise. It has a R&D team with several post-doctoral and PhD students and an operation and management team with many years of experience in the laser industry. It can provide local and international laser equipment manufacturers with superior performance. I believe that by leveraging their respective advantages, both parties will be able to optimize the path for laser-assisted perovskite photovoltaic module manufacturing. As the head of the joint laboratory, Bai Yang reported in detail the current work progress and follow-up research plans of the joint laboratory. It is reported that the joint laboratory, as a technology development platform for both parties in "perovskite photovoltaic manufacturing,"  will mainly focus on the application and development of low-cost, high-precision laser equipment in the manufacturing of perovskite photovoltaic modules. The expected results of the first phase of the project will include the development of a process for preparing large-area perovskite thin films by scraping coating, optimization of thin film crystal growth kinetics control, and development of laser processing processes for perovskite components. Under the guidance of the national "double carbon" strategic goal, the partners of the joint laboratory will make full use of the human resources and advanced scientific and technological achievements of scientific research institutions, cooperate with the integrated manufacturing advantages of the enterprise to carry out scientific research on cutting-edge technologies in the field of new energy, and closely integrate with industry. Cooperate to jointly promote the transformation and implementation of scientific research results.
